These were the first paper cups that were granted approval by Trading Standards in UK to be used as the measure for serving beer and cider from free-flow pumps. Historically, it was difficult and expensive to make a paper cup with the degree of precision required to pass this test, but new manufacturing techniques have made it a reality.
